Published on September 24, 2026 Putting a control panel on a VPS used to mean an SSH session, picking the right distribution, running an install script and watching the terminal. You no longer have to. You now choose the panel together with the server, in the console. It is installed automatically once the instance is created, on top of a compatible image. There is no installer for you to run.

Seven panels to choose from

The panel sets the image: you do not pick the distribution, it follows. Install time comes on top of instance creation.
cPanel & WHM and Plesk require a licence from their vendor. Easypanel and Cloudron have a free plan and paid plans: check their terms before you start.

When you order, or when you reinstall

You can pick a panel in two places:
  • when ordering a new instance;
  • when reinstalling an existing one. A reinstall erases the disk: back up first.
A control panel cannot be combined with One Click Apps: an instance runs one or the other.

First access

Once the install is finished, the panel answers on the port listed in the table.
With cPanel & WHM, Plesk and HestiaCP, your browser shows a self-signed certificate warning until a domain is configured. This is expected.
On an instance running Cloudron, the Domain tab offers a dedicated DNS profile that writes the records this panel needs: see Your domain on your VPS.
